My Mathematics

At Springwood Heath  our My Maths curriculum is designed for learners on a semi-formal pathway, offering a tailored and accessible approach to mathematical development. Rooted in the White Rose Maths Scheme, our personalised curriculum adapts high-quality mathematical teaching to meet the individual needs of each pupil.

🌟 What Makes Our Approach Unique?

  • White Rose Maths, Personalised: We use the trusted White Rose Maths framework as a foundation, carefully modifying it to suit the pace, ability, and learning style of each student.

  • Individual Learning Journeys: Pupils follow bespoke learning pathways that balance structure with flexibility, allowing them to progress through key mathematical concepts in a way that is meaningful and manageable.

  • Practical and Engaging: Maths is taught through a mix of concrete resources, visual supports, interactive tasks, and real-life problem-solving to promote engagement and understanding.

  • Focus on Functional Skills: Emphasis is placed on developing numeracy for everyday life — including time, money, and measure — supporting independence and life skills.

  • Small Steps, Big Progress: Lessons are broken down into manageable steps with opportunities for repetition, overlearning, and real-world application.

🧠 Key Areas of Focus:

  • Number and Place Value

  • Addition and Subtraction

  • Multiplication and Division

  • Shape, Space and Measure

  • Time and Money

  • Statistics (where appropriate)

📈 How We Measure Progress:

Progress is monitored through continuous formative assessment and personalised learning outcomes. Each child’s achievements are tracked using individual Maths Learning Profiles aligned with both the White Rose curriculum and their EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets.
